Certificate in Capital Markets


First you need to get registered for Certificate in Capital Markets known as (CCM). This is a 25 Week Course. CCM is the only pre-requisite to obtain the RIA ( Registered Investment Adviser of Sri Lanka ) “license” accepted by the industry. The Certification course consists of three Series i.e. Equity Securities Series, Debt Securities Series and Securities Regulations and Ethics Series.

The qualification is aimed at school leavers, graduates and professionals working in the securities market industry to initially obtain the Certificate in Capital Markets and to proceed up to Diploma level. Candidates who are employed in the securities market industry will also be able to obtain the RIA license.

Registered Investment Adviser  (RIA )


This is the second step after successful completion of CCM Sri Lankan examination.

Students who have successfully completed the Certificate in Capital Markets (CCM) i.e. passing all three series, namely the Equity Securities Series, Debt Securities Series and Securities Regulations & Ethics Series with pre or post six months of relevant industry experience are eligible to enroll for the VIVA VOCE Examination conducted by the SEC. Passing of the VIVA VOCE Examination will qualify the candidate as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA Designated).

Diploma in Capital Market

The Diploma in Capital Market (DCM) is the third stage of the qualification framework which provides advanced knowledge on capital market theories, practices and financial products. The DCM includes three modules on Corporate Finance and Technical Foundation,Financial Derivatives and Investment Management.

Entry Requirements

Certificate in Capital Markets (CCM) holders.

• *The Professional level entry qualification category.
  
  Holding a Membership at Institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), Charted Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA), Association of Cahrted Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or any other qualification acceptable to the CMET.
  
• The academic level entry qualification category
  Possessing of a Bachelor’s Degree in either Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, Management, Economics, MIS/IT , Engineering, law or Arts.

Continuous Professional Development Programmes  ( CPD )


The Capital Market Education and Training Division is conducting CPD Programmes to uplift the knowledge of the financial market professionals with the latest developments in the global as well as the Sri Lankan capital markets.

This programme is compulsory to all Investment Advisors in the stock broking industry to renew their license annually. All the Licensed Stock brokers should attend minimum of two CPD Programmes of 04 hours each year in order to renew their license for the subsequent year
